Sarah and Drew’s Beltane Mountaintop Elopement at the Pinnacle in Lake George, NY

The same week Sarah and Drew said their vows overlooking Lake George (Sarah’s happy place) , they also closed and moved into their new house in Saratoga Springs. When I arrived at their new home to photograph getting ready, it felt like the first day spring had arrived and the fine green mist of new buds opening was illuminated in the forest surrounding their home. Their daughter, Melissa spun around in her new dress as they made their final preparations inside their home.

Sarah is a fellow RIT grad and wedding photographer who began attending photo school just after I’d graduated, and has a love of film (she even has a twin lens reflex camera tattooed on her arm!), so it was extra fun documenting her elopement to drew with my favorite film cameras alongside my Fuji medium format digital camera. We hiked up to a stunning view alongside their dear friends Sean, who officiated, and his partner Veronica, who kept Melissa entertained as Sarah and Drew said their vows at dusk.

It’s always the greatest compliment when another photographer asks me to photograph an important moment in their life, and getting to know Sarah and Drew (and Melissa) has felt like the beginning of a long friendship!
