Emily and Max’s Surprise Sunshine, Analog-Inspired Intimate Wedding at Silver Lake State Park and Fable Farm in Barnard, VT

-Since I’m now incorporating film more than ever in nearly every wedding I photograph, I’m beginning a new format where I wait a few weeks to post a blog post from each wedding I’ve photographed to show my favorites from both mediums at once. Not to worry, I’ll still be featuring each full wedding I photograph on my blog, as I believe every wedding I capture deserves to be showcased.-

Like many weddings I’ve photographed this summer, the weather for Saturday, September 9th was looking damp, until the morning dawned, and the sun arrived and never left. Emily and Max, who are excellent at going with the flow, took this great news in stride and texted me if I’d be interested in rowing across Silver Lake on a canoe to where their friends and family would be waiting for them. If you know anything about me, you knew I responded, “Oh ABSOLUTELY!” What a treat it was to be paddled across the crystal waters of Silver Lake by my sweet and competent oarsman, Emily’s dad, Jonathan.

Emily and Max planned their wedding around quality over quantity- opting for a smaller guest list and the most exquisite of details. Some of my favorites were the forever-stunning florals of Stitchdown Farm, the antique photo booth with black and white chemistry that Emily scoured the internet to find, and the delicious food by Molly Levine of Westerly Canteen.

I feel so lucky to have found these two souls whose values and aesthetics align closely with my own, and who also live just a few towns away from my own!
